We are so proud of our “Next Stars” from Platinum Dance Studio who competed at the NexStar National Talent Competition in Murfreesboro, TN, March 8-10, 2013. Our dancers performed at Middle Tennessee State University’s Tucker Theatre. What a busy and exciting talent filled weekend we had!
NexStar is proud to continue standing out as a leader in the talent competition industry. They have been providing the dance world with fun, family oriented competitions for over a decade. The 2013 Season is actually NexStar’s 12th year! NexStar offers a wide range of performance categories, at various Divisions and Levels, from which to compete: from Gymnastics and Cheerleading to all different types and styles of dance such as Ballet, Contemporary, Folkloric, Lyrical, Musical Theater, Production, Hip-Hop and Vocals, to name but a few. They even have an open category routine that is a combination of any of the other categories but does not exactly fit the definitions of any other style. How fun is that?!
In these dance competitions, dancers show off and compare their skills with other dancers of the same level. They are required to perform at least one dance from a particular division. As competitors move up in skill level, they are then required to perform more dances at that category level. The judges award points based on skills, presentation, and showmanship.
On Sunday, NexStar concluded three consecutive days of successful competitive dancing. We have to say CONGRATULATIONS to our amazing Platinum Dance Studio competitors for their skills, presentation, and showmanship! Their choreography and quality of performance was a joy to watch!
